Dan Edwards was appointed President at Zodiac Arresting Systems (ZAS) in May, 2013. ZAS is the world’s leading supplier of emergency aircraft arresting systems for the military and has product in 80 countries. Dan joined the Zodiac Aerospace subsidiary in 2004 as a product engineer and fulfilled leadership roles in research and development, engineering, strategic planning, and MRO services. He also led the strategy to establish the company’s first joint venture in China, work that promises to pay dividends at his current post. Dan has established himself as a transformational leader focused on driving operational excellence through the development of a strong company culture.
Mr. Edwards is the lead inventor for Zodiac Aerospace’s Braking Action Safety System (US 8,224,507 B2) and is leading Zodiac Aerospace’s commercialization of the product. The new technology uses a simple but elegant approach to provide real-time runway braking conditions to pilots and air traffic controllers solving a 25+ year challenge that remains at the top of FAA and NTSB priorities.
Dan Edwards was a commercial pilot and served over 23 years in the USAF both in active duty and reserve status as a KC-10 pilot and Civil Engineer. Mr. Edwards served as Commander of the 78th Air Refueling Squadron and Deputy Operations Group Commander at McGuire AFB, NJ. He has type ratings in the DC-10 and 757/767 and has over 4000 hours of flight time.
Mr. Edwards has a Masters in Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the US Air Force Academy.
He resides in Central New Jersey with his wife Kimberly and twin daughters Jillian and Kaelyn. When not spending time with his family Dan enjoys outdoor activities and is an active fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to help children with disibilities. He was recently appointed to the Board of Visitors for CHOP Orthopedics the Philadelphia Chapter of Young President’s Organization (YPO). He is an avid golfer and 3-time Ironman.
He is a great help for everything we do here at Jillian's Jitterbug Foundation. We are all about supporting children with disabilities, like Cerebral Palsy, with the provision of crucial equipment.
